12-Year-Old Girl Dies In Joyriding Car Accident

Any car accident is tough to deal with, but when it involves children killing children, that is a difficult thing to swallow.

New York City-native Kaitlin Boothdied in a fatal SUV car accident this past week when the teen driver she was joyriding with sped around a neighborhood block and rolled over the car on the slick road.  He himself was a child at 15-years-old.

This is a tragic wrongful death that our auto accident attorneys do not like to see.  Not only was the underage driver being reckless on the road, he was speeding and that is what caused the car to flip, taking Kaitlin Booth’s life with it.

The unidentified 15-year-old boy took his parents SUV out for a spin and told Booth to hop in.  As he was speeding at 50 miles per hour (MPH) in a posted 30 mph speed limit.  When the car rolled, the boy called his 14-year-old friend, screaming “Oh, my God, I flipped the car! I flipped the car!”

Police arrived and took a statement from the boy where he claimed that two black men had crashed the car right where Booth and he were walking, then ran off.  After further investigation, it was discovered that the SUV was registered to the boy’s family and the truth came out.

What is still unclear is what happened to Booth after the car crashed.  Some reports indicate that she crawled out of the car and as an EMT arrived on the scene to administered medical treatment, Booth looked to be fine.  However, another witness claims that the boy dragged Booth’s body from the curb and that she had passed away soon after.

The auto accident attorneys who work at our firm are sorry that a child had to lose her life in a mistake that is likely to emotionally traumatize the teen driver for the rest of his life.  So please, tell all your children that if they are underage, unlicensed, and inexperienced, then they have no place behind the wheel of a car.
