Right before 2009 came to an end and a new year, along with a new decade, began, the year came to a close on a rather sad and scary note for San Diego drivers. A five-car accident in Point Loma left one mother and her child seriously injured after a Toyota 4-Runner rear-ended a Toyota Camry and causing the SUV to rollover.

Our firm’s experienced car accident attorneys know that usually an auto accident, from one vehicle to one-hundred, leaves a trail of pain and suffering in their wake. On one hand, it is terrible that this mother and her 9-year-old daughter have been injured, but on the other hand, they are lucky that this accident did not escalate into a wrongful death one.
[UPDATE: After 12 days of being in the hospital, the family of the young girl decided to take her off of life support.]
The car accident happened on December 31st, 2009, at 9:12 a.m. on Sports Arena Boulevard near West Point Loma Boulevard when the driver of the 4-Runner, who is suspected to be under the influence of prescription drugs (DUI) at the time of the crash, rear-ended the Camry, which overturned and sent three other cars spinning out of control.
San Diego Police Department reports that the 46-year-old mother and her daughter were rushed to the UCSD Medical Center for medical treatment. The young girl was then taken to Children’s Hospital to receive help for the major brain injury that she sustained.
The car accident attorneys who work at our firm are always glad to hear that a wrongful death was avoided out on the road, but know that this kind of accident can easily take someone’s life. Be careful out on the road and make 2010 a safe year and the start to a safe decade.
