Smaller Roads Equals Bigger Problem Of Car Accidents

Many Americans commute to work every day and sit in hours of traffic even though freeways and roadways have many lanes.

Just imagine if you had to drive on smaller roads more often than not.  Pedestrians, bicyclists and cars all traveling at slower speeds could cause more car accidents.

So with that in mind, a proposal has been made in New York City to improve the look of city streets.  But does it come at the expense of car accident safety on the roads?  Taxi drivers, for example, are hesitant to approve of the move, saying that they hope that these changes do not lead to fewer parking spots or that slower traffic does not cause car accidents.

“The streets are a place where many motorists need access to, in order to earn a livelihood,” said Bhairavi Desai, executive director of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, “so what would be of some concern is if there was less space for vehicles, or drivers had to slow down to complete their fares.”

Our car accident lawyers believe that everyone should drive safely — regardless of speed — and adhere to the rules of the road.  Even with slower speeds, car drivers should still drive safely to avoid pedestrians and bicycle riders.
