On May 7, 2009, a Chula Vista teenager was ejected from a pickup truck and died in a fatal truck accident on northbound Interstate 5 just south of Washington Street in San Diego.
Our semi-truck accident attorneys believe that fatal auto accidents can be one of the most devastating for family and friends to experience. The amount of emotional trauma and pain and suffering is especially great when the wrongful death of a teen occurs.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the girl as one Valeria Atondo, 17 year old teenager from Chula Vista, who was rushed to UCSD’s Medical Center where she was pronounced dead after the fatal truck accident.
The three-automobile accident, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Brad Baehr, occurred around 2:20 p.m. when the driver of a Toyota Corolla lost control of the automobile and hit the median wall. The car ricocheted off the wall and struck a Ford Mustang, which sent the Toyota spinning, until it was struck by a Ford Ranger.
During the truck accident, one of the Ranger’s doors opened, causing Atondo to fall out of the right-front passenger seat. Another passenger in the Ranger suffered a personal injury to his wrist in the auto accident. The passengers in the other automobiles experienced minor injuries.
Our semi-truck accident attorneys urge everyone driving large automobiles to use safety belts and not be negligent in their driving methods. It does not matter if you are a teenage driver or a seasoned veteran of the road—no one wants to be involved in a fatal car accident or fatal truck accident.
