University of Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun left a hospital on June 14, 2009 after Calhoun was injured in a bicycle accident.
Calhoun was riding his bicycle when he hit a pothole and crashed. Calhoun then continued to bike for about 16 more miles after the bicycle accident before stopping in Simsbury, Connecticut. Calhoun completed the ride but fainted while he was talking to friends near the finish line.
As bicycle accident attorneys, we are aware that bicycles are a useful way for people to either get around or as a way to stay healthy. Bicyclists share the road with other cars and trucks. Bicyclists also share the sidewalk with pedestrians. Because of the amount of traffic you have to negotiate, riding a bicycle can be very dangerous. Bicycle accidents can cause personal injury — broken bones, spinal cord injury causing paralysis (i.e. paraplegia & quadriplegia) as well as traumatic brain injury (i.e. concussions). All of these injuries would require you to receive medical treatment.

A bicycle accident caused the personal injuries of the University of Connecticut men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun.
Unsafe road conditions can cause all types of accidents: car accidents, motorcycle accidents and bicycle accidents. All of those accidents have the potential to cause personal injury or wrongful death (if the accident is severe enough).
No matter how you travel, always be safe. You should always wear a seatbelt when driving your car but do not forget to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle or a bicycle. Those steps are the easiest way to limit the severity of personal injury in an automobile accident.
As bicycle accident lawyers, we urge drivers and riders to always be safe when they are getting around from place to place or just working out to stay healthy.
