A jury awarded a young woman’s parents $1.09 million in damages after their daughter suffered a wrongful death when a motorcycle she was riding on collided with a car.
Ms. Sloan, a 20 year-old student was a passenger on a motorcycle riding with another motorcycle alongside. The two motorcycles approached an intersection with two other motorcycles in front and a car in the opposite lane.
When the first two motorcycles turned right, the car’s driver started to make a left turn assuming the next two motorcycles would turn right as well. Mr. Stephens, the driver of the car, made an improper turn left as the other two motorcycles went through the intersection causing the accident. Sloan was thrown from the bike causing personal injury and wrongful death.
