According to reports, a motorcyclist’s speeding caused a head-on car accident with a car on Highway 101 near Swamis Beach. The driver of the car came out of the Swamis Beach parking lot and turned left, into the path of the motorcycle.
Witnesses said that the motorcycle was speeding while weaving through traffic, making unsafe lane changes, on the southbound side of the 101 at about 5 p.m. Sheriff’s Sergeant Chuck Yancey said that the auto accident smashed both the motorcycle and the car, sending the motorcycle driver flying.
Our motorcycle accident attorneys know from their experience how much pain and suffering is involved in these types of incidents. The car driver suffered injuries to her face and hands when her air bag inflated. No information has been released regarding any injuries suffered by the motorcycle driver, but most likely they will need medical treatment.
Motorcycle drivers face added safety concerns when on the road. For starters, they are prone to greater injury during an auto accident as they have no protection around them, and speeding complicates matters.
Motorcycles can reach high speeds in a short time, but motorcycle accidents can be much deadlier than car accidents. As a result, does it not make sense for motorcycle drivers to take greater caution than car drivers? It does not seem to be that way right now on the roads.
Finally, instead of avoiding motorcycles, many cars actually drive more aggressively when next to motorcycles which leads to even more motorcycle accidents, many which result in wrongful deaths.
Our motorcycle accident attorneys encourage everyone to be careful of motorcycles on the road, whether you ride them or ride with them.
