3 Hospital Falsified Records To Hide Medical Malpractice

A new investigation into county hospitals has found that doctors, nurses and other staff in many of America’s hospitals falsified records in order to cover up medical malpractice mistakes.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys know that in addition to causing you an immense amount of pain and suffering, medical malpractice can cause more severe personal injuries including wrongful death.

The investigation looked into three hospitals – Bellevue, Woodhull and Jacobi Medical Center – and determined that their records either lacked crucial data or were missing completely, making a thorough investigation into medical malpractice mistakes nearly impossible.

An investigation into medical malpractice in U.S. hospitals found that hospital staff cover up medical mistakes.

An investigation into medical malpractice in U.S. hospitals found that some hospital staff members covered up medical mistakes.

At Bellevue Hospital in New York, investigators looked into a wrongful death after rumors surfaced that the patient died from medical negligence.  The investigation found that the hospital and its staff were in fact at fault for his death.  The hospital staff then tried to cover any record of it in order to avoid being fined.

At Woodhull Hospital another wrongful death occurred, this time it was an infant’s wrongful death.  The infant arrived at Woodhull with difficulty breathing and fever of 102.  Two pediatric residents — who weren’t supposed to examine critical care patients without direct supervision — performed the exam.  Twenty-four hours later, the infant died due to a misdiagnosis.

Finally at Jacobi Medical Center, the problems there included losing medical records and failing to properly track patient care and status.  Both of which either led to severe injuries for the patients or wrongful death.
