Senator Requests Data On Infuse That Led To Personal Injury

A top lawmaker has opened an inquiry into a former Walter Reed Army Medical Center doctor whom the Army has accused of falsifying a medical study involving a product made by the medical company Medtronic.

The drug known as Infuse was given to soldiers who had large amounts of bone damage due to combat.  Infuse was not designed to treat those types of bone damage, and the side effects led to personal injury in those soldiers.

Dr. Timothy R. Kuklo

The perspective our personal injury lawyers in San Diego have is that it is the responsibility of medical companies and doctors to promote drugs that are used for the right purposes and not add more personal injuries to the already ailing patient.

Drugs can have dangerous side effects to the liver and kidney as both organs have the potential to fail causing wrongful death if dangerous drugs are prescribed to patients with false knowledge of how the drug can help.

According to investigators, Dr. Timothy R. Kuklo forged names of four other doctors he cited as co-authors in a study on a bone-growth product given to Army soldiers with high amounts of bone damage as a result of personal injury from combat.

Medtronic provided Senator Charles E. Grassley with a list of doctors who were paid consultants for their Infuse drug.  In a letter to Walter Reed officials, Senator Grassley asked for information about payments by Medtronic to Dr. Kuklo and other Army doctors involved with Infuse or other company products.

When new drugs are introduced to consumers, our firm’s personal injury attorneys believe these new drugs should be tested by people who do not have any type of financial connection to a medical company.  Non-biased testing and research is important for patient’s from requiring more medical treatment if a drug does not work the way it is supposed to.
