Soot Particles In Atmosphere Linked To Personal Injury

A new group of existing studies talking about the links between soot particles, tiny particles of solid or liquid suspended in a gas or liquid, and wrongful death from cardiovascular (heart vessel) problems shows wrongful deaths from exposure are twice as high than originally thought.

Dan Greenbaum, the president of the nonprofit Health Effects Institute, said his organization is releasing the analysis on June 3, 2009 that includes 116 American cities.  The highest levels of soot particles are in Los Angeles, Birmingham, Atlanta, the Ohio River Valley and Pittsburgh.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury lawyers know pollutants in the atmosphere have been linked to personal injury causing wrongful death.  Pollutants in the air from cars and factories can lead to dangerous problems like heart failure later on in the future.

If a driver has an unknown heart condition, a sudden heart attack can lead to a car accident causing personal injury while they are on the road.

The study found the risk of having a condition, that is a warning for heart attacks causing wrongful death for people living in areas with high soot levels, increases by 24 percent compared to the others who are only 12 percent more likely.

Many Americans enjoy taking in a good breath of fresh air, but is the air really that fresh if it can cost you your life?
