Woman Files Personal Injury Lawsuit After Building Collapse

Kelli Renea Loser, a 34-year-old Maryville, Tennessee resident, filed a personal injury lawsuit after bricks from a building falling apart fell on her car causing personal injury to her and her passenger, 23-year-old Makashia Knotts.  The owner of the National School Products building in Maryville, John Nowell, could be held responsible for Loser’s personal injury in a products liability lawsuit.

Our firm’s personal injury lawyers in San Diego know personal injury can happen at any time and at any place.  Sometimes, the personal injury is your own fault, but other times, negligence of another person causes the damage.

Loser suffered significant and debilitating personal injuries when she was driving her 2003 Pontiac car and parts of the building collapsed and fell on her car.  Loser is asking for $1 million in actual (compensatory) damages and $3 in punishment-like (punitive) damages.

Falling buildings can cause serious personal injury to all body parts depending on what they fall on.  Blows to the head can cause traumatic brain injuries and concussions.  Blows to the spinal cord can cause spinal cord injuries and broken bones are also likely when faulty buildings collapse.

Property owners should always take proper care of the buildings they manage.  Maintenance and upkeep should always be a priority for building owners before personal injury happens because of negligence.

Our San Diego personal injury lawyers believe it is the duty of building owners to maintain proper structure for the buildings they either use or make money from the use by others.  A few hundred dollars for regular maintenance can be the difference in having to pay a few thousand in medical bills to someone with personal injury.
