8-Year-Old's Wrongful Death After Boating Accident

The holidays are a time for merriment, cheer, and festivities with family and friends.  But that doesn’t necessarily mean that people are any less susceptible to accidents that cause pain and suffering, or takes someone’s life.

Such is the sad case of the Coast Guard patrol boat that smashed into a recreational boat in San Diego Bay, causing the wrongful death of an 8-year-old boy and seriously injuring five adults onboard.

Our wrongful death attorneys know how hard it is to deal with an accident involving a young boy or girl.  Children’s injuries are devastating to parents, but there is nothing that quite compares to the emotional trauma of losing a child in a tragic event.

During the annual San Diego Bay parade of lights, an unregistered recreational boat entered the procession around 6 p.m., which is when a 33-foot Coast Guard boat crashed against the vessel carrying 13 passengers.  Five adults aboard the recreational boat were personally injured, but everyone on the Coast Guard vessel was fine.

It was determined that the Coast Guard boat was speeding much too fast for being in that crowded of waters, but an attorney for the injured parties say that there is “no excuse” for any boat to be going that fast.

San Diego Fire-Rescue took all of the injured parties to UC San Diego Medical Center for medical treatment, where the young boy later succumbed to his injuries and died.

The experienced wrongful death attorneys at our firm want to wish you the best of holidays, but that means that you need to take extra precautions during family outting and even at home.  Accidents can happen any time, any where, so make sure that you and your loved ones are properly protected.
