A 17-year-old cheerleader died in a fatal teenage driver single-car accident in which she was ejected from the car.
Andrea Buchanan was killed in a car accident Tuesday afternoon, January 13, 2009, on West Virginia’s route 61 near East Bank. Andrea Buchanan, of Hansford, was likely heading home from school when her car ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.
When emergency crews arrived, Buchanan was lying in the northbound lane, McCord said. She had not been wearing a seat belt, and she was ejected and thrown more than 60 feet from her automobile. Her car then re-entered the roadway and was blocking both lanes of traffic.
Our wrongful death attorneys would also investigate the full nature and extent of the wrongful death car accident. For example, in one case we had several years ago, it appeared that our client’s late spouse had not been wearing her seat belt. Only after a careful investigation did we discover that the seat belt had been broken (the metal had actually failed) and that the seat belt manufacturer had been aware of this problem.
Buchanan was taken to a Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries from the car accident.
Police are still investigating, but they believe the rain might have caused the fatal car accident.
We also see a significant amount of auto accidents caused by slippery roads as well as fatalities due to not fastening seat belts properly. Bad weather can be very stressful, but if you do not wear your seat belt in a car accident, then rain can cause a fatal auto accident.
As a result, this teen driver leaves behind a grieving family and many mourning classmates after her wrongful death.
Anytime you get into a car, our wrongful death lawyers urge you to take just a couple seconds before starting the ignition to pull that seat belt across your chest and buckle up. While you may be left with whiplash injuries and medical bills, it could be what saves you from a car accident.
