The wrongful death of a 22-year-old man was caused by an alleged drunk driver after a car accident in the Miramar section of San Diego on October 25, 2009.

The victim died after the wrongful death car accident at about 1:20 a.m. on Miramar Road near Empire Street.  The female driver of a Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle was speeding, lost control of the car and crashed into a power transformer.  The sport-utility vehicle then kept going and hit a building after crossing the street.

Our San Diego car accident lawyers know that too many car accidents are caused by drunk drivers.  Every year, the amount of people killed because of drunk drivers continues to rise even though organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous and Mothers Against Drunk Driving as well as law enforcement officials warn against drunk driving.

No matter how car accidents are caused, they all result in the same serious injuries: whiplash, spinal cord injuries and in some cases, wrongful death.

The man was in the back seat and not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car upon impact.  He died at the scene.  The driver of the SUV and another man were treated at a hospital.

San Diego Police arrested the female driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Our firm’s car accident lawyers in San Diego know there are some combinations that work while driving.  Drinking while driving is not one of them.  Drinking and driving ends in horrible car accidents that cause injuries and wrongful death every year, and we think it’s important to make sure drivers do not make such an irresponsible and potentially fatal mistake.

Can we put a stop to drunk driving?  Yes, we all can do our part.  There are some ways to prevent DUIs from happening in your community and hopefully putting a stop to them once and for all.
