With California’s motorcycle accident statistics at an all-time high, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced that May 2010 would be Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and our San Diego motorcycle attorneys created a website on the subject.

So look twice at our motorcycle accident site and maybe you will save a life!

California has a motorcycle accident problem.

With over 1.2 million licensed motorcyclists, California is in the midst of a decade-long increase in the number of personal injuries and deaths due to motorcycle accidents.  A record 586 people died in fatal crashes while another 13,252 suffered motorcycle injuries in 2008.  In short, motorcycle crashes are a serious issue to Californians.  That is why more effort is being done to get the word out.

“Although the [motorcycle accident] statistics are grim, California appears to be on course to see a potential decrease for 2009 in the number of motorcycle fatalities and collisions for the first time in several years,” said Joe Farrow, CHP Commissioner.

Earlier this month, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) displayed a traffic safety message all across the state’s highway message boards: “SAVE A LIFE, LOOK TWICE FOR MOTORCYCLISTS.”  We hope that this website might also help in that regard.
