Our law firm’s car accident attorneys in San Diego want to help you realize that choices you make both before and while you’re on the road don’t just affect you.  They can affect the lives of so many others.

Especially if you make the wrong choices …

A bad decision made by a 40-year-old man led to the drunk driving car accident in San Diego that caused the wrongful death of a 21-year-old woman of Lemon Grove.

The woman was waiting for a tow truck on the northbound side of Interstate 805 by the Home Avenue exit after having car trouble.  She called a friend who met up with her and parked a Mazda behind her disabled car.  At about 3 a.m. as the group was waiting for the tow truck, a 2006 Chevy sport-utility vehicle driven by the man in question ran into the Mazda.  The woman died at the scene, and her two friends were taken to a hospital for major injuries.

The man was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, and if it’s proven he was drinking and driving, his negligence cost the life of the woman’s as well as her child because she was six months pregnant.  If he is convicted, he faces up to 16 years in prison.

Whenever a driver makes a horrible choice like this, our car accident lawyers always seem to ask the same questions.  Why did he decide to drive drunk?  Why did none of his friends offer to drive him home or call him a taxi?  Some decisions make more sense than others.  Drunk driving NEVER makes sense.  You’re not only taking a chance with your own life.  You’re taking a chance with someone else’s as well.

Preventing drunk driving car accidents is everyone’s responsibility.  Because we want to do everything we can, we have some handy DUI prevention resources full of information about how frequently drunk driving car accidents happen (the numbers may surprise you) as well as information about organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous if you or someone you know might have a drinking problem.
