He thought that it might be an April Fool’s Day joke, but when one local business owner walked into his jiu-jitsu studio the next morning the property damage to his small studio, he knew this was no joke.

According to a story on Fight Works Podcast, a car rammed into the front of  his self-defense training center on Adams Avenue, causing massive amounts of destruction and damage, and then drove away in what is now being called a hit-and-run accident.  Our San Diego car accident attorneys are simply grateful that no injuries or deaths were the result of this accident.

The man is set on rebuilding his dojo and letting students come back to learn jiu-jitsu.  From a man who has received a few personal injuries in his life, this is just one more battle to fight and to be victorious.

“I’m a little guy,”  he said.  “I’ve been mounted, I’ve been swept.  [Adversity] isn’t anything I haven’t been through before.”

That being said, it would have been better if the accident hadn’t happened in the first place.  His small studio and his entire collection of gis, which are traditional uniforms for jiu-jitsu fighters, are ruined.

San Diego police tracked down a woman who is believed to be the driver who crashed into the academy and then left the scene.  SDPD is investigating whether or not this accident was caused by driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol after the suspect was found at home intoxicated.  She claims that her vehicle was stolen at the time of the car accident.

Our San Diego car accident attorneys have said it a million times, but here goes a million and one: don’t leave the scene of an accident.  True, no one got hurt or lost their lives in this accident, but a local businessman and educator might have lost his livelihood, which takes time and effort to recover from, just like any personal injury.
