Our El Cajon car accident lawyers often see the fatal consequences that come with drinking and driving.  Despite the glaring statistics that outline how bad drinking and driving is, some people still choose to do so.  Unfortunately, one driver’s bad choice resulted in the wrongful death of the mother of three children.

A drunk-driver accused of causing fatal El Cajon car accident found guilty.

The woman was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and misdemeanor hit-and-run accident last month, and a ruling on the case was decided earlier this week.  Last November, Felix caused a fatal accident which ended up killing a pedestrian, a 35-year-old woman.

In her report, the Deputy District Attorney said the woman’s truck hit the pedestrian, ran through several mailboxes, hit another pickup truck and crashed into a garage leaving various debris all over front lawns along Pepper Drive in El Cajon.

One neighbor walked out to find his pickup truck 60 feet from where he left it next to another neighbor’s van.  The neighbor testified that the woman stayed in the cab of her truck for several minutes looking for her purse before she got out.

She then walked away despite the neighbor’s attempts to keep her at the crash site.

The same neighbor discovered the woman lying face down in a ditch near some bushes when he found her a few minutes later.  She smelled of alcohol and was slurring her speech.  When the woman was tested, her blood-alcohol level was .27 percent, more than three times the legal limit.

Witnesses testified that no one knew the female pedestrian was hit until she was spotted by an ambulance crew a few hours after the car accident. The female was pronounced dead at a hospital two hours later.
