The Associated Press reports that the Chrysler Auto Group has issued a recall of several model cars and minivans made from 2006 through 2007.  This Chrysler recall intends to prevent auto accidents caused by brake problems.

This is the fourth major recall this year from an auto maker.  At the start of the year, Toyota issued a recall citing faulty floor mats causing unintended acceleration.  Later, Honda issued a recall to correct brake problems, and most recently, Ford issued a recall involving its floor mats.

Chrysler recalls over 700,000 cars and minivans worldwide.

If you own or are looking to become a Chrysler owner, this recall concerns the Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan.  About 365,000 Jeep Wranglers worldwide — 290,000 of which in the United States — were recalled because brake fluid leaks can develop which may lead to an auto accident.

Jeep Wranglers made from 2006 through 2010, both two and four-door versions were named in the recall.  According to details, fasteners that hold the front fender liners in position can become loose.  If they get loose, they can hit tubes that carry hydraulic brake fluid causing a leak that would result partial loss of braking power at one wheel.

In the Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, wires placed improperly can come into contact with sliding door hinges that could cut the insulation.  That defect can lead to a fire inside the minivan door causing thousands of dollars in property damage.

Chrysler plans to tell owners of vehicles with the design defect so repairs can be made.  To correct the problem, parts of the front fender liner have to be removed.  So far, no auto accidents, personal injuries or property damage have been reported due to the flaw.
