According to the Los Angeles Times, alcohol and speed may have been the causes of a Los Angeles auto accident that injured four teenagers after one of the biggest nights in their lives.

Teenage drivers are known for their inexperience and recklessness.  Drunk driving and excessive speed are certainly some of the bad decisions that teen drivers make –both of which are very dangerous.  If you’re a teenager reading this blog or a parent of a teenager, please this carefully.

Four high schoolers injured in auto accident possibly caused by drunk driving.

Marina High School students left the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California traveling south on West Street after their prom.  At about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010, the silver BMW they were driving hit a parked truck near Reva Drive, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

Police suspect that drunk driving and illegal street racing were both factors in the auto accident.  A light pole the truck was near was knocked down after the crash.  All four students were taken to University of California, Irvine Medical Center with serious auto accident injuries.  An investigation is ongoing into the exact cause of the crash.

Prom attendees and parents were required to sign contracts before prom saying that anyone suspected of drinking would be escorted away from the dance.  Police and parents would then be notified.  This summer, millions of teenagers in the United States will be going to prom.  It’s not just one of the staple events of a high schooler’s life.  Prom has unfortunately become a time where drunk driving causes thousands of auto accidents.
