Young girl, 6, was killed by during a police chase that ended with a car accident.

Around 6:22 p.m. on June 10, 2010, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a report of a man with a gun.  A pursuit began when suspects threw two handguns out of their vehicle’s windows.

Several minutes later, the suspects’ speeding sedan lost control near the 19000 block of Fenton Avenue in Lake View Terrace.  Woods was playing with several friends, and impact of the collision with the young girl was hard enough to deploy the car’s airbags.

The car accident turned into a hit and run when the driver and three passengers inside the sedan left the scene on foot after striking Woods.  Two of the passengers and the driver were found hiding in a neighborhood trash can and were arrested once the LAPD tracked them down.

Emergency crews took Woods to a nearby hospital to administer medical treatment where she later died due to her severe children’s injuries.  LAPD officials say that the suspects are looking at vehicular homicide and drug charges, but no word yet if this is a suspected DUI accident.
