Maybe some government funding can take some of the death out of Death Valley.

An $11.2 billion road rehabilitation project for Death Valley National Park is among the many projects getting in line for a piece of the proposed federal stimulus package.  There haven several fatal single-car rollover accidents on a 13-mile stretch of Bonnie Claire road in the northern portion of the park, and this project will look to make sure does not happen anymore.

Our firm’s car accident attorneys believe that any measure that is taken to make sure that lives are saved, personal injuries are reduced, and children’s injuries is a good thing.  You never know when a car accident is going to cause an injury that requires medical treatment or wrongful deaths.

The Democratic leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives presented a plan on January 15, 2009 that included about $2 billion for ready-to-go projects in the national parks.  Many are hoping, including our car accident attorneys, that Death Valley National Park will be a top-priority for the money.  We are always looking for ways to eliminate causes for fatal auto accidents on the road.

This roadway improvement project has been on the National Park Service’s work list for years, but it has lacked the funding to implement.  It is one of many National Park maintenance projects that are currently backlogged to a total of $8.5 billion of projects.  Death Valley National Park is the largest park in the lower 48 states, and it comes under increasing popularity during the spring, when wildflowers are in bloom.

The car accident attorneys at our firm know that dangerous roadways can lead to deadly car accidents.  There are many problems for drivers when roadways age, as potholes and dangerous curves cause car accidents and have become increasingly deadly since speed limits have gone up over the years.  Not only does this construction stimulus package offer a way to make for safer roads and less car accidents, but it will also put people back to work in construction.

Hopefully, by fixing one park’s roadways, we will be able to save lives in more ways than by just avoiding car accidents.
