A bicyclist riding his two-wheeler in San Diego was struck and injured in a bicycle accident by a car driver suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.

Bicyclists across the country already have a hard enough time riding through areas of heavy traffic that may lead to bicycle accidents.  If there are drivers on the road that are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, dangers become more possible due to the lack of coordination and impairment that drinking and driving involves.  In this case, a bike accident was possibly caused by a driver being under the influence of drugs.

Our firm’s San Diego car accident lawyers know that drunk driving is one of the worst combinations of things a person can do.  Drunk driving car accidents cause injuries and wrongful death every year, and it’s a practice no one should do.  Driving under the influence of drugs is equally dangerous because drugs can have the same effect on a person that alcohol does.

The driver in his 20s was arrested after the accident that happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Balboa Avenue near Charger Boulevard.  The driver did have a suspended license from a previous DUI at the time of the crash, but Well did not know if the previous DUI was for an alcohol or drug offense.

Bicycle accidents can cause serious injury if involved with a car or truck because of the size of the bicycle compared to the car as well as the force that the car can produce on the bicycle because the car can have increased amounts of forward momentum that a bicycle can not equal or repel.
