Six members of a San Diego based rock band — A City Serene — were seriously injured when their tour bus was slammed by a truck south of Bakersfield.
The tragic car accident happened after a driver in a pickup truck lost control on a dangerous curve, drove off the road and hit a dirt hill that forced the truck into the air, sending it over 100 feet into and over the center divide. The pickup truck then hit another car which broadsided the bus causing it to roll over. The bus was then struck by another car.
Our car accident lawyers know that this — as many car accidents — can not be prevented. In 2007 alone, more than six million car crashes occurred in the United States. Freak car accidents happen everyday, but luckily no one suffered a wrongful death in this particular car accident.
Two members of the band who were injured in the car crash were recently discharged from the hospital and another band member is scheduled to be released. Michael Sherman, 22 and Xander Bourgeois, 20, were discharged and Kris Renfro, 19, who was driving the band’s bus, is expected to be let out of the hospital soon.
Other members of the band — Carly Baker, 19, and Mike Buxbaum, 20 — are still in comas and are in critical condition while after suffering catastrophic injuries. Marc Koch, 20, was just moved out of intensive care.
The group was just days into their first tour and on their way to San Jose when their bus was struck by a truck on Interstate 5 south of Bakersfield. All six were airlifted to area hospitals.
