Night driving often proves to be difficult and dangerous. Often local accidents that would be considered minor in daylight are turned into serious San Diego car accidents when the sun goes down. But the same could be said for those who choose to drink and drive. Or leave the scene of an accident.
As the San Diego Union Tribune reports, a multi-car accident on southbound I-805 left six people with personal injuries and requiring medical assistance. Police officers are also investigating whether one or more of the motorists was driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and are trying to find at least two cars that left the crash site.
Our San Diego firm’s auto accident attorneys have no tolerance for drunk drivers, especially when they end up causing catastrophic injuries and property damage such as was the case in this crash. That’s another reason why night time driving is also dangerous — because more drunk and intoxicated drivers are likely to be on the road after bars and clubs have closed up for the evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), right before 2 a.m., a car pulled over to the side of the highway just north of Market Street to fix a flat tire. Another vehicle collided with it, followed by several other cars crashing into the pile up until the number three lane on the highway was blocked up.
Six people, including two motorists who had to be extracted from their vehicles after being trapped inside, were taken to local hospitals for medical treatment of their serious injuries and trauma. Two vehicles turned the accident into a hit-and-run accident when they fled the scene, said the CHP.
Our auto accident attorneys in San Diego hope that this case illustrates how dangerous it is to be on the roads late at night. It seems that people think they can bend the rules of the law and get away with more, but in actuality, they just end up hurting others on the road. Always have the proper tools and items stocked in an emergency kit when you drive at night, and never EVER drink and drive or leave the scene of an auto accident.
The sun might go down, but the rules of the road still apply.
