Personal Injury Attorneys & Car Accident Lawyers San Diego's Most Trusted Personal Injury Law Firm since 1992

While most of America sits down to watch a rousing game of football over the Thanksgiving weekend – rooting for their favorite teams and cheering on their top players – it’s highly unlikely that anyone will be applauding one of Florida’s most valuable players the weekend after Thanksgiving.

No, it was not Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, but instead it was the Gator’s rising star Carlos Dunlap who did not pass his field sobriety test on November 30, 2009.  The Gainesville Police Department found him asleep in his car in the middle of the intersection, and after pulling him out of the car for a few drunk-driving tests, Dunlap was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Our firm’s drunk-driving accident lawyers are aware of how many lives are taken every year by reckless drivers who feel they can abuse drugs and alcohol before getting taking charge of a moving vehicle.  Luckily, Dunlap did not cause any personal injuries, property damage, or wrongful deaths because of his lapse in judgment.

While the defensive MVP of 2008′s national championship game was snoozing on his wheel, he was unaware that he was blocking the intersection while the light was green, which could’ve caused a car accident.  After the police woke him up, Dunalp failed to comply with breathalyzer test, so was he was taken into police custody and booked at a local station.

Dunlap’s DUI arrest comes several days before top-ranked Florida is seet to take on the second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game.  Despite National Title implications, Florida head coach Urban Meyer says that Dunlap will be benched for that game.

Our drunk-driving accident lawyers are always saddened when hearing about a potential role model being arrested for driving under the influence, especially when there are so many ways that we can all prevent drunk-driving accidents from happening on our roads.  Thankfully, Dunlap didn’t injure or kill anyone in an auto accident.  Hopefully, he can be an example of what not to do.
