Police everywhere are on the lookout for anyone that drives under the influence of alcohol (DUI) because drunk-drivers are one of the top causes of car accidents.

The cops caught Women’s basketball star Diana Taurasi drunk-driving, and now she’s facing legal troubles.

WNBA guard Diana Taurasi, pulled over in July for drunk-driving, faces three DUI charges.

Our car accident lawyers have met with many people that were injured by a drunk-driver.  These injuries are sometimes harder to bear because everyone knows drunk-driving accidents are completely preventable.  When famous people are caught drunk-driving, it sets a terrible example for the young people that look up to them.

The Phoenix Mercury’s star guard was pulled by police near downtown Phoenix after her car was drifting outside a lane, traveling at nearly 20 mph above the 35 mph speed limit.  Taurasi’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.17 percent — the legal alcohol limit for Arizona drivers is .08 percent.

Taurasi, 27, was cited for DUI a few hours after scoring 22 points in her team’s 93-81 win over the Seattle Storm.

The WNBA star is being charged with a trio of drunk-driving charges, one of which is extreme DUI, as well as speedingTaurasi’s court date has twice been postponed, but Taurasi is due in court on September 18.  She has pled not guilty to all her DUI charges and not responsible to her speeding violation.

The Mercury responded to the DUI by suspending Taurasi for two games in July.

“I am deeply sorry and embarrassed for causing this distraction for my teammates, the Phoenix Mercury, the WNBA, family and fans,” Taurasi said.  “While I cannot say more with regards to the specifics of the case, I do want to make sure that everyone knows how much I appreciate their support and that I’ve learned a valuable lesson.

“I am committed to making sure a lot of good comes from this experience.”
