Personal Injury Attorneys & Car Accident Lawyers San Diego's Most Trusted Personal Injury Law Firm since 1992

Our law firm’s car accident lawyers in San Diego know that car accidents caused by drunk driving can have long-lasting effects on the people involved and their families.  Drunk driving car accidents create questions for anyone with personal injuries or a family dealing with a wrongful death:

  • Why did someone decide to drive drunk?
  • Why couldn’t the driver call a cab or get a friend to drive?
  • How will I get justice?

For the family of 17-year-old Gerardo Chacon, the driver of the car that caused his wrongful death will stand trial for his role in the fatal car accident.  A judge decided there is sufficient evidence to proceed in the trial of 21-year-old Reyes Miranda, the driver of the car that killed Chacon.

Back in November, Miranda was driving a 1990 Ford Mustang — without a license — going north on East Vista Way just past Mason Road at around 2 a.m.  The car then veered and hit a guardrail, then crossed into the southbound lanes and hit a bus-stop shelter and rolled several times.

Chacon wasn’t wearing a seat belt was ejected from the car and his wrongful death was declared at the scene of the car accident after suffering from multiple blunt-force injuries to his upper body.  Miranda only suffered moderate injuries.

Miranda has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.  If a conviction is made, Miranda faces up to six years in prison.

Our Vista car accident lawyers believe that people who drive drunk are making poor decisions that impact not just the driver but other drivers and passengers, as well.  If you are out drinking, DON’T DRIVE!  Call a cab.  Call a friend.  Never start the engine – it can only end badly.
