Pedestrians are just as prone to personal injury as car occupants. Pedestrian accidents can happen out of the blue and for the most unlikely reasons, and our San Diego law firm’s auto accident attorneys know you can experience a catastrophic injury or be fatally struck the second you step outside your home.
Even safety devices, like red lights, can be dangerous if combined with an auto accident.
Car Hits Traffic Signal, Traffic Signal Fatally Hits Pedestrian
In this case, the car in question did not even come in contact with the pedestrian before causing his wrongful death. LAist is reporting that a suspected drunk driver crashed into a traffic signal that then fell on a nearby pedestrian, killing him in the process.
During the early morning hours of April 12, 2009, a 2008 Dodge Caliber, driven by 27-year-old Jasen Jack, slammed into a traffic signal in a one-car accident. When the traffic signal toppled over, it landed on a man and killed him.
Jack managed to escape the accident without severe personal injury, but police custody was placed on him for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs. Authorities are looking for any more information or witnesses that can shed some light on Jack and the crash in general.
