Personal Injury Attorneys & Car Accident Lawyers San Diego's Most Trusted Personal Injury Law Firm since 1992

The internet has become the latest way for people to get their news, do their shopping and connect with old friends.  Unfortunately the internet has given way to more questionable services.

The Food and Drug Administration is trying to shut down one aspect of internet life:  online pharmacies.  The FDA has begun to pressure over 100 websites that are selling either counterfeit drugs or unapproved prescription drugs, which can lead to personal injury or wrongful death if those drugs are used incorrectly.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury lawyers believe that there is a reason why doctors are the only professionals permitted to prescribe medications.  Medical professionals know the risks these drugs pose, and your doctor should also have a working knowledge of your health history.  When you take medical treatment in their your own hands, that’s when malpractice — in this case pharmaceutical malpractice — happens.  Taking drugs you’re either not supposed to take or aren’t the drugs they are supposed to be can cause serious injuries which can be permanent physical disabilities in some cases or be fatal causing wrongful death for others.

Letters were sent to 136 of the FDA’s targeted sites where online stores were selling everything from Valium and Xanax and lifestyle drugs (such as Viagra and Levitra).  Some sites even offered prescription drugs not approved for sale in the United States.  A couple of sites, wellknowndrugs.com and 24-7meds.com, have already been taken down, while an FDA spokesperson has said at least 90 of the sites named in the letters have also been taken down.

Sometimes you may try to treat yourself because you don’t know where else to go because maybe you’re confused.  In an effort to help you and others like you, we have supplied a helpful medical treatment resource page that can answer some of your questions.  But the most important resource you have is your own doctor.  Our personal injury lawyers in San Diego want to urge all people to go to their physicians when they have to get medical treatment.  It is the safest way to deal with your health.
