You wake up in the early hours of the winter morning, wrap yourself up in your bathrobe, and decide to start cooking breakfast. Scrambled eggs and sausage cooked over your gas stove sounds delicious, but as you begin to make the food, your robe catches on fire and the flame spreads quickly to the rest of the cloth.
This is the type of product liability accident that has recently lead to the wrongful deaths of nine people and instigated Blair LLC to recall their line of highly flammable robes, including a few that were shipped imported and shipped from Pakistan.
Blair robes are being recalled due to concerns over flammability. (SOURCE: CPSC.org)
The robes had trouble passing flammability standards because they have the ability to catch fire when exposed to an open flame and in April, 2009, the robes were initially recalled after Blair LLC learned that three had caught fire to their consumers. One of those robes allegedly caused a second-degree burn to the injured person.
Our firm’s San Diego personal injury lawyers understand that companies who manufacture and distribute products that have potentially harmful materials should be held responsible when those products lead to catastrophic injuries and wrongful deaths.
Blair’s current recall includes roughly 300,000 units of the robes, including the full-length women’s chenille robes, women’s chenille jackets, women’s chenille lounge jackets, and women’s chenille tops. The majority of wrongful deaths connected with the full-length chenille robes were older persons who were usually cooking at the time of the accident.
No one should have to worry about their clothes causing potential harm to their body. If you have recently purchased a robe from Blair LLC, please take part in their recall so that you do not find yourself subject to a potential fire hazard.
If you have been personally injured, it is important to have the best medical attention available so that you get better as soon as you possibly can. Knowing your options is the first step towards improvement.
