With youth comes a sense of indestructibility — that Nothing or no one can get to you, not even injury or illness. In fact, most young adults under 30 have never fought disease or physical disability.

With that in mind most younger individuals opt not to get pricey health insurance as rent and living expenses take precedent over the possible need for prescriptions and doctor visits when personal injury happens. That coupled with the current recession and the number of uninsured is expected to grow. A report in Health Affairs notes that the increasing unemployment rate coupled with the rising cost of insurance could elevate the total number of uninsured Americans to 52 million by 2010.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys know that accidents that require medical attention happen daily. Just because you are young does not mean you might not get injured in a car accident or pedestrian accident that may not be your fault. Each year, there are over six million auto accidents in the United States. An estimated 40,000 people are killed in fatal car accidents, while as many as three million people are injured in auto accidents.

One of the main problems keeping young adults from health care is that most young adults have incomes 200 percent below the federal poverty level, according to the Urban Institute report. Yet some how, only 13 percent of young adults are eligible for Medicaid or other public programs that help the underprivileged pay their medical bills.

It seems that many young adults go without insurance because they fall into one of several gaps in the current health care system. Most insurance policies terminate coverage for dependent children at either the age or 19 or when they complete (graduate or drop-out) of college. Without their parents’ insurance, young adults are left to find their own coverage.

We hope that something will be done about this. Our personal injury attorneys in San Diego believe that health coverage is an essential form of coverage for all individuals. If you or a loved one suffer a debilitating injury and are not insured, many doctors will not even see you, and if they do see you, you could be left to foot the bill for some high medical bills.

Call us now at 1-800-655-6585 or click here for a free consultation with an experienced San Diego personal injury attorney and find out how we can help you. We speak English and Spanish, and we look forward to providing advice for your case. No fee if no recovery.

There have been new proposals in the House and Senate which would in effect expand the Medicaid program to cover at least a third of the nation’s 46 million uninsured.

Medicaid, the health-care program for eligible individuals and families with low incomes and resources who cannot pay large amounts of medical bills if suffering from a personal injury, is funded through a combination of federal and state tax money.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys believe that those who are not able to afford health insurance should be able to obtain insurance. Accidents like car accidents that cause personal injury happen everyday and if you are not insured due to your low income should you have to suffer more pain and suffering because you are uninsured?

Many states are worried they would get stuck with a big part of the medical bills if this legislation is put into action. While the state taxes will increase to provide Medicaid to more individuals, the amount of money will be less than the amount states have to pay when uninsured individuals receive medical treatment for a personal injury.

Imagine how hard it might be to pay back six figures worth of medical bills when you have no insurance and a loved one or you suffered a personal injury.

Our personal injury attorneys in San Diego know that if you suffer an injury in a car accident and are not insured, you will have to pay back high medical bills. As a matter of fact, our personal injury lawyers have a helpful resource page if you want help getting your medical bills paid.

That is why you should always hire an experienced personal injury law firm to be on your side. We can get you the medical help and, in some cases, can establish a medical lien (which will allow you to receive your medical care and not have to pay a dime until after your personal injury claim has been settled).

Please contact us for a free consultation with an experienced San Diego personal injury attorney — we speak both English and Spanish — at (800) 655-6585. Click here and you may also submit your case for a Free Review. No fee if no recovery.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys believe it is necessary for all Americans to have the right amount of health care. The current recession has caused state budgets to cut back on health care.

One group of Americans this affects more than any other group is children. Children with personal injuries and their parents have found it more difficult to get treatment and care for childrens’ injuries.

Over 25% of children relied on state programs for getting treatment for personal injuries.

Childrens’ hospitals and pediatricians are hit the worst by state budget cuts. Even though children make up about half of Medicaid’s clients, their numbers have increased to 22 million children who get their health coverage from Medicaid or a state Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

States usually offer CHIP, which is aimed at families with more income than Medicaid patients, as part of their Medicaid programs. Both programs are funded with state and federal help.

Specialists who take Medicaid are increasingly more difficult to find. A recent survey says over 1,800 practices said they no longer accept new Medicaid patients. Some of these specialists who deal with spinal cord injuries or traumatic brain injuries that do not take new Medicaid patients make it more difficult on children that need them.

Children’s hospitals have been cutting back as well. According to a new survey polling the National Association of Children’s Hospitals, 20% of the 42 hospitals responding say they had to cut or consider reducing clinical services because of the recession. This could seriously affect how we handle children’s injuries. An economic downtown should not be the reason for reduced amounts of health care – especially in children. Children need health coverage more than other age groups because they do not have work related benefits or social security.

Our personal injury lawyers in San Diego believe that all Americans have the right to proper health care. Some age groups like children and the elderly depend on these federal health care programs, so it is necessary for these programs to be available to them.

Please contact us for a free consultation with an experienced San Diego personal injury attorney — we speak both English and Spanish — at (800) 655-6585. Click here and you may also submit your case for a Free Review. No fee if no recovery.

If a prescription drug company harms you, you hire an experienced personal injury attorney who specializes in pharmaceutical liability for dangerous drugs. If a prescription drug company cheats the government, then the United States Justice Department steps in.

The Justice Department and 16 states have joined forces with two whistle blower lawsuits, claiming that Wyeth, one of the nation’s largest drug makers, illegally avoided paying hundreds of millions of dollars to Medicaid programs for its Protonix Oral and Protonix IV acid-reflux drugs.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys know how hard it is for most Americans to get medical treatment. When programs like Medicaid get stiffed like this, it makes getting those treatments even harder.

If you are someone who relies on Medicaid and you can’t get treatment because of a prior mistake, it can make your bad condition worse, permanent or in the worst case scenario: fatal. To help make sense of some confusions, our personal injury lawyers have a helpful resource page that answers some questions about getting medical treatment.

Medicaid was established as part of the Social Security Act of 1965 to help those with illnesses and personal injury. Medicaid was designed as a health insurance program for the poor by selling prescription drugs for the lowest price which lowered the medical bills for many since its inception.

In the Wyeth lawsuit, the complaint alleges that Wyeth sold Protonix to thousands of hospitals at deeply discounted prices, selling the package for at times a 94 percent discount. While doing so, Wyeth failed to off the same discount to Medicaid, costing the valuable health care program hundreds of millions of dollars. By law, manufactures of brand-name drugs must offer the same medical bill discounts to state Medicaid programs.

The states in the lawsuit are California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin, in addition to the District of Columbia.

If you have been harmed by a prescription drug, our personal injury attorneys in San Diego recommend you seek legal counsel and find out what recourse you have. Having to pay high medical bills for someone else’s mistake is not fair, and in this country, we champion the rights of the consumer.

Please feel free to call us now at 1-800-655-6585 or you can click here for a free consultation with an experienced personal injury attorney. We have a large bilingual staff that can assist you in either English or Spanish. No fee if no recovery.

Medicare was created with the Social Security Act in 1965. The program was an effort to provide health insurance for Americans over the age of 65. Medicaid provides health insurance to help eligible individuals and families with low incomes and resources pay their medical bills.

Nevada government worked on a new $900 million Medicaid budget. The new budget takes about $56 million from an account set up to help needy people who are hurt from personal injury as a result of a car accident.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury lawyers know how hard it is for some people to get medical treatment because of the high costs in medical bills. Getting treatment for personal injuries is important because untreated injuries can get worse as time progresses.

You may have questions as to how to get medical treatment for your injuries. Trying to get medical treatment can be confusing, and our personal injury attorneys have a helpful medical treatment resource page to help you answer some of your questions.

“I don’t know what rural counties are going to do when they have a car crash on one of their highways that sends people to hospitals that don’t have insurance and they get a bill for half a million dollars,” said Jeff Fontaine of the Nevada Association of Counties.

Car drivers and passengers in Nevada that cannot afford to pay medical bills related to personal injuries from car accidents are not pleased with this new budget because it increases the amount of medical bills they have when those same people cannot afford to pay their medical bills. Car accidents can lead to lost wages because people who are injured cannot work.

Where are those people supposed to get help if they cannot help themselves?

As personal injury attorneys in San Diego, we believe that people who suffer from personal injury as a result of a car crash should receive all of the help they can get from government agencies if they qualified for the treatment before the car accident. If you are injured in a car crash, hiring an experienced car accident attorney can help you get a settlement that will help pay for your medical bills as well as pain and suffering or lost wages.

Call us now at 1-800-655-6585 or click here for a free consultation with an experienced personal injury attorney after you get into a car accident and find out how we can help you. We speak English and Spanish, and we look forward to providing advice for your case. No fee if no recovery.

Imagine yourself over the age of 65. If you go into a hospital suffering from a personal injury, there is a chance that you will not be treated properly for your personal injury as a result of plans to keep Medicare payments the same.

The plan is designed to keep Medicare payments flat beginning in the fall in an effort to keep hospitals from exaggerating how sick patients are from illnesses and personal injuries in order to get higher paybacks.

Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys believe that everyone should be entitled to all of the treatment they desire and have the best help possible for paying their medical bills. Personal injury patients who use Medicare should not be treated differently than someone with a different type of health insurance.

Under the plan, the payment rate for hospitals would rise slower than the 3.4 percent increase in 2007 according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the agency that manages the health insurance program for the medical treatment of elderly and disabled. The same agency said the proposed rate includes a 2.1 percent adjustment for inflation but also includes a payment cut because hospitals have overstated how sick personal injury and other patients are to get more money.

The plan forces hospitals to be more honest with the government when it comes to saying how injured their personal injury and other patients are. Misleading the government can only cause more harm than good because that causes more regulation that affects those that really need extensive treatment.

Our personal injury attorneys in San Diego emphasize the need for all personal injury patients to get the full amount of coverage they need in order to allivate their pain and suffering. The lying by hospitals to the government has only created a more difficult situation for people experiencing a severe personal injury that require extra care, not to mention how injured people are going to get money or assistance to pay for all of their hospital bills.
