Oh, the weather outside is frightful and your drive is not so delightful.

If you live in a cold-weather state and drive a Nissan, take note: the car manufacturer is recalling 143,000 of its vehicles over worries that they will be prone to car accidents when road salt is applied to streets this winter.  Nissan says that road salt could cause corrosion which can lead to a malfunction in the tire-pressure monitors. The exact models being recalled are:

  • 2008–10 Infiniti M35 and M45
  • 2009 Nissan Cube
  • 2009 Nissan Murano
  • 2008 Nissan Rogue

Our car accident attorneys know that when the weather conditions are the road are bad, it can lead to a higher rate of car accidents.  Often times drivers lose control of their cars, causing personal injuries or even wrongful deaths when the incident turns into fatal auto accident.  You do not want to take chances on rainy or snowy roads, right?

Geographic recalls, like this one, require car companies to only repair vehicles from states where the factors like the weather and regional terrain are more often going to cause problems.  In this case, road salt could corrode the cars, giving a false reading on the tire-pressure monitor, which means your tires could blow out, and suddenly you find yourself in a car accident.

The states where the recall applies are Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.

Where ever you are, if the weather is bad, make sure that you take extra caution while out on the road.  Slow down, use your lights when visibility is low, and be on the lookout for out-of-control drivers who are not taking extra safety measures to avoid car accidents.

If you have experienced an injury due to a weather related car accident or defective product and are looking for the best medical treatment so that you know all your options before you decide on a certain method of rehabilition.
