15 million pounds of Spaghettios recalled after company fears undercooked meat.

Campbells Soup Company issued a recall of about 15 million pounds of certain brands of Spaghettios after fears of undercooked meat rose.  According to details, one of the cookers at the company’s Paris, Texas plant malfunctioned causing the meatballs to not get the proper amount of heat.

The recalled pasta includes the following brands:

  • SpaghettiOs with Meatballs
  • SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs
  • SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars)

The pasta in question was manufactured between December 2008 and June 2010.  Retail establishments across the country received the tainted pasta with meatballs have “EST 4K” and a use-by-date between June 2010 and December 2011 printed on the bottom of the can.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the products liability recall late on Thursday, June 17, 2010.  Officials believe the cooker’s malfunction happened recently, but company spokesmen say they aren’t sure when exactly.  No reports of illness have been brought to the USDA’s attention, and no other complaints were made to date.

Anthony Sanzio, one Campbell’s spokesman, believes there are about 35,000 cases of the product on the market that fall under the recall’s time frame.

If you have a question about the recall, you can call Campbell’s Hotline at (866) 495-3774.  If you believe you may have some of the bad Spaghettios, you should dispose of it so you can keep yourself and your children from getting ill.
