Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Mental suffering often comes in the form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychological disorder that follows after a physically or psychologically traumatic event outside the range of the usual human experience (e.g. seeing a loved one die, a serious threat to one’s own life). In this case, the PTSD results from the experiencing or witnessing of a car accident, usually a major one, which is what our personal injury attorneys in San Diego handle all the time. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is typically characterized by several possible symptoms, including:- Re-experiencing the event
- Numbing of physical senses
- Slowing of responsiveness to the environment
- Excessive or exaggerated startle response
- Feelings of guilt
- Memory impairment or amnesia
- Difficulties sleeping or concentrating
