To serve and protect and obey the law themselves. That should be any police officer’s professional and personal motto.
According to Fresno police, a 20-year old driver ran a stop sign when he was apparently drunk-driving (DUI) at about 9 p.m. on January 18, 2009. As he rolled his truck through the sign, he caused a car accident with a Fresno Police Detective’s unmarked police car. He then drove off, changing this whole incident into a hit-and-run.
Our firm’s San Diego auto accident attorneys know that driving under the influence of alcohol, running a stop sign and fleeing from the resulting car accident scene are never smart things to do. It is just much, much worse when someone does each one of these in hit-and-run accident, especially one with a police officer.
The detective, dazed by the auto accident, radioed for help. A police helicopter tracked the other driver’s truck until other officers subdued and arrested him for hit-and-run driving and driving while intoxicated. He spent the night in Fresno County Jail.
