All California Car drivers should take note: the state of California has three new safe car driving laws that came into effect on January 1, 2009 to protect against car accidents caused by distracted drivers.  These new laws cover a variety of roadway safety issues, but we are confident that most of these should help lower car accident statistics.

Our firm’s experienced car accident lawyers make sure they are constantly up-to-date on all new auto driver laws.  This way, not only are we a great source of information for our clients, but we can be also be a tremendous resource for you, offering informative material about avoiding wrongful death and personal injury out on the road.  As a result, they can educate as many people as possible on these new roadway laws and accomplish our goals of limiting the number of auto accidents.

With that all said, allow us to tell you about some new laws that concern all California auto drivers.

  • No Text Messaging While Driving. As car accident lawyers, we love this new regulation.  Way too many car accidents are caused by cell phone use, and texting causes a good number of those particular auto accidents.
  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS) devices must be placed in one of two designated areas. One area is located in a 7-inch square in the lower right corner of the windshield, while drivers may also place their GPS or in a 5-inch square in the lower left corner of the windshield.
  • All Traffic Tickets will Increase by $35. We are strongly in favor of any way we can give drivers a reason not to speed or drive recklessly. By penalizing offenders, maybe there will be fewer auto accidents.

With a wide variety of distractions available to take car drivers’ attentions from the road, the first two of these new laws go a long way towards bringing everyone’s focus back to driving.  Our car accident lawyers are constantly fighting to eliminate any and all distractions that lead to driver inattentiveness, property damage, and lost lives.

Our car accident lawyers hope that now that you know the new laws, please be sure to follow them.  Otherwise, might either find yourself paying a larger ticket than before, or worse, find yourself in the middle of wreckage after a traffic accident.
