If you have the opportunity to live in San Diego or elsewhere in California for any period of time, there is no doubt that you have bragged about the traffic and driving conditions that could increase your chances of an accident. However, a new study shows that it’s more than just anecdotal evidence supporting that California is a dangerous state for driving. In fact, Fresno alone was ranked as the 15th worst driving city in the nation, according to research conducted by Quote Wizard.

The online insurance marketplace looked at the locations with the best and worst drivers in 2017 by exploring 75 of the biggest metropolitan areas. Some of the leading reasons for states to make it on to the list had to do with too many drinking and driving incidents. In fact, San Diego came in fifth across the entire country for dangerous driving, speeding tickets, DUIs, accidents and citations. The best driving city was ranked as Detroit. In order to accomplish this goal of comparing different cities and their driving, Quote Wizard asked insured drivers questions as they sought out insurance quotes, such as whether the driver had been arrested for driving under the influence, has had an accident or had citations on their record. California cities make a poor showing in the study with other locations including Baker’s Field, Los Angeles and Riverside making the list as well. Being involved in a vehicle accident has the potential to change your life forever and turn your life upside down.

Some of the most common injuries sustained by accident victims include broken bones, fractures, lacerations, internal organ damage, and TBIs. Since it can take months to recover and lead to extensive medical bills, filing a personal injury claim may be the only way to recover the support you need. Now that California has earned recognition as one of the worst driving states in the country, make sure you pay attention on the road and maintain your vehicle properly to avoid accidents. Even when you’re doing everything possible to avoid a crash, you cannot predict what other drivers will do.

Consulting with an experienced attorney is just one of the important steps that you can take to protect yourself if somebody else’s reckless behavior is the cause of your serious injuries.
