You might want to check that your tires are not defective and an auto accident waiting to happen.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tells Foreign Tire Sales of Union of New Jersey State to recall 450,000 radial car tires for pickup trucks, SUVs, and other types of automobiles. The reason for this recall was because the company disclosed that its Chinese manufacturer for the car tires, Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Car Tire Manufacturer, stopped including a safety feature that prevented rubber tires from separating.
This was the same defect that caused Firestone Tires to have to recall their automobile tires back in the year 2000: tread separation.
Foreign Tire Sales has sought federal government’s help in recalling 450,000 car tires, because it claimed that it did not have enough money to recall all of the tires by itself. Yet, the NHTSA agency claims that Foreign Tire Sales is responsible for all the tire recalls themselves.
Ever since October 2005, top executives at Foreign Tire Sales suspected problems with the automobile tires that could potentially bring about a car accident. About a year later, in September 2006, the Chinese car tire manufacturer, Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber, admitted that they left out a gum strip from the car tire manufacturing process. This nonexistent gum strip was supposed to prevent the car tire’s tread from separating.
Automobile quality control officials at the NHTSA were “outraged” that Foreign Tire Sales did not report these problems back in 2005, and not even in 2006, after the auto tire manufacturer admitted to leaving out the gum strip.
As car accident lawyers, we are concerned for the safety of everyone on the road, so we believe it is best that everyone knows about these defective tires are recalled due to car accidents and for many other reasons. These car tires missing gum strips were sold under the names Westlake, Compass, Telluride, and YKS. If you ever bought tires under these names, please get them replaced before a rollover car accident occurs.
At this point, officials at NHTSA say they do not know how many defective auto tires are on the road, but it is estimated to be around roughly 450,000 tires, in which the tread could separate at any moment.
Our auto accident attorneys believe that safety is the most important, so please check your own tires, and if they were made by Westlake, Compass, Telluride, or YKS, get new tires to ensure the safety of yourself as well as anyone who ever steps foot in that automobile. Replacing a tire that has not worn down yet may cost money, but that money has to be spent, as human lives are irreplaceable and priceless.
