Authorities believe a Del Mar, California man suffered catastrophic injuries in a pedestrian accident after stepping in front of a semi truck on Interstate 5 in an unsuccessful suicide attempt.

The semi truck accident happened on March 25 when the 66-year-old man walked into the path of the semi truck on the southbound I-5 just north of the San Onofre truck scales around 11:30 a.m.
