Anger can trigger us to do a lot of things we would normally never do — from making obscene gestures in acts of road rage to overracting and not paying attention to our surroundings. Unfortunately, it looks like an argument might have been key in a San Diego pedestrian accident.
10 News reports that one man died from being struck by an oncoming car after exiting his own vehicle during an argument with his girlfriend. According to the California Highway Patrol, the El Cajon resident died from his personal injuries in the outskirt community of Crest.
The El Cajon car accident attorneys at our law offices know that you should never get out of a vehicle when there is traffic barreling down in your lane. Just as distracted driving while an automobile is in motion can put you at risk of catastrophic injuries, so too can parking and not paying attention get you hurt.
The man and his girlfriend had just left a parking lot, with the girlfriend allegedly at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla. The couple began arguing, but as the woman pulled into the road to make a left turn, the man got out of the passenger side door. He exited, only to be hit head-on by a female driver, who tried to avoid crashing into him, but could not.
The man died at the scene due to his major injuries before he could be transported to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
Our firm’s auto accident attorneys want to help you stay out of crashes and accidents on the road. Therefore, we feel it is our duty to remind you to never stop in the middle of the road or on the highway because that is an unexpected halt in the flow of traffic. On top of that, make sure to not exit you vehicle while on the road — no matter what might be happening in the car — because that just increases your chances of getting injured.

Why do you believe it is better to stay in a vehicle instead of stopping on the road and getting out of a car?
