If you are a parent, then you know that kids can get in all sorts of trouble and a lot of the time, end up hurting themselves simply through the nature of their curiosity. But what if a product you specifically bought your child ended up hurting them or even cutting their life short due to product liability issues?
In the biggest crib recall in United States history, 2.1 million cribs have been recalled from Canda and the U.S. by Stork Craft. This all comes after four infants experienced wrongful deaths while sleeping in their cribs.
The recall came when it was discovered that young children and infants could experience wrongful deaths when a drop-side opened up a space between the mattress and the moveable slat that children could fit into. Once there, they would be stuck and possibly suffocate, as happened with four children so far.
Amazon.com, Babiesrus.com, Costco.com, Target.com, Kmart, BJ’s Wholesale Club, USA Baby, J.C. Penney, Meijer, Sears, and Walmart stores each sold the defective cribs from January 1993 through October 2009. Several cases of children’s injuries were also reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Our San Diego personal injury attorneys highly encourage you to take part in this recall so that your child does not end up needing medical treatments or lose their life. If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Stork Craft toll-free at (877) 274-0277 anytime or visit Stork Craft’s website to order the free repair kit.
When companies like Stork Craft or Fisher Price — who’s logo also appears on a number of recalled items — fail to make safe products, consumers can often pay with their lives. Every child should have the chance to live a long and healthy life and parents should not have to worry about it being cut short by a product that is supposed to protect their offspring during the night.
