Albert Hammond once sung:

Seems it never rains in Southern California
Seems I’ve often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl, don’t they warn ya
It pours, man, it pours

And pour it did on December 7, 2009, when San Diego was hit with bad weather from a winter storm, creating a flood of car accidents and backing up traffic on local highways for miles.  From reports by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), 43 car crashes had occurred by 7 a.m., with 29 happening between 6 and 7 a.m. alone.

Our firm’s auto accident attorneys know that bad weather, caused by rain or high winds, can often be the cause of numerous car accidents.  Driving can be an unpredictable experience, however, when weather conditions are thrown into the mix, it is anyone’s guess if an accident will take place.

According to the CHP, on a dry-weather day there are 50 to 75 auto accidents in a one 24 hour period.  The high winds are expected to be 50-70 miles per hour depending on how inland cars are traveling, meaning that the risk of personal injury could go up if the weather derails vehicles off their path.

One to two inches of rain is expected to fall, then clear out for a few days, only to return on December 10th.

Our auto accident attorneys think this should be a warning sign to everyone out there to slow down and make sure that you are covered by the best car insurance policy that you can afford.  Nobody wants to be involved in a car crash, but if it happens now, you could also be left out in the cold, cold rain.
